I have been hearing a lot about Kale Chips for a while now and have tried them a couple time,
but after my sister mentioned she was going to try and make some, I was sold.
This was definitely a shot in the dark,
but I am happy to say it was an experiment gone right.
These are an amazing crispy treat and a great replacement for the not so healthy photo chips.
Let's get rolling :)
What you need:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinegar
Kale [ugh duh ;)]
Cinnamon
Chili Powder
Sea Salt
A long sheet cooking pan
A bowl to mix with
Start by preheating your oven to 350 F (180 C)
You are going to want to spread about 1 tablespoon of olive oil over a long sheet pan
Grab a small mixing bowl and add in about 1/2 a cup of Olive Oil and 1/4 of Balsamic Vinegar
[or any amount you see fit for your portion of Kale keeping about a 2:1 ratio]
Mix well
Then take your dry ingredients and start adding them into the mixture:
1/2 TSP of Cinnamon
1/8 TSP of Chili Powder
& A dash of Sea Salt to taste
Once your mixture is complete,
take the Kale and begin breaking it into small pieces
placing it throughout the pan.
Making sure there is no overlapping bits.
Once the Kale is placed you can start brushing your mixture on evenly.
If you don't have a proper brush another option
is dipping the Kale piece by piece
into your mixing bowl.
[Just make sure not to drench it]
Finally place your pan in the oven for
approximately 8-10 minutes.
[Keep your eye on it throughout]
Once the timer goes I like to hit the broil button
for an extra crisp!
But be warned, you need to be close and I wouldn't let it sit for more then a minute
Once they are done, pull them out, and let them sit to cool.
UMMM
I am so excited to experiment with this new recipe, trying new flavours and techniques. This is truly a something you can cater to your taste buds!
